1-day workshop

2-Day Workshop

How it works

The 2-day workshop follows the original version of Addressing the Ghost, and takes place over one weekend. Through this longer workshop, you will have greater opportunity to build the intimacy with one another required to dive deeper into their experiences with non-profits and activist organizing towards personal reflection and even healing.

In the 2-day workshop, you will work on one “continuous story”, starting from an element of the “ideal organization” and moving through where (in your personal or ancestral pasts) you learned that element from. Throughout the workshop there will also be time for big-group discussion and collective ideation, meant to build connections and understand similarities between diverse individuals working towards better futures. The workshop moves slowly and deliberately, with lots of space created for conversation and emergence. If it seems like it might be too long and you just want to dive right into the “ghost” parts, the 1-day workshop might be better for you!

There is a Shared Space Agreement that all participants have to adhere to during the workshop. This agreement was designed to maintain consistent expectations throughout the workshop, and try to make the space as “safe” as possible. Violation of the agreement might result in you being asked to leave. Throughout independent writing, the facilitator(s) will be circulating to offer you support. You will also receive prompts and examples to help you in your writing.

We’ll meet from 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, with a 1.5h lunch in the middle of the day (and breaks/independent work throughout). The workshop won’t have more than 8 participants, and ideally does not contain multiple people who have worked together at the same organization or in the same group.*

*should you wish to participate with a group of friends/colleagues/co-organizers, go to Contact.

Reciprocity

As this workshop is still in development & piloting phase, it is free to attend. However, participants are asked to provide feedback on the workshop experience & content, and share copies of their stories with the facilitator, as part of supporting the workshop’s continued development. Your stories will not be shared anywhere without consent, and should a paper or other published work be written and your story would be a good fit, I’ll reach out well in advance to request permission.
